Tannourine & Laqlouq
High mountain villages, the Tannourine cedar forest, the Baatara Gorge waterfall and the ski slopes of Laqlouq.

Tannourine and Laqlouq sit high in the mountains above Batroun and Jbeil, about 80 km from Beirut, or an hour and a half by car.
The Tannourine Cedar Forest Nature Reserve protects one of the largest cedar forests left in Lebanon, with walking trails under the trees. Nearby, the Baatara Gorge waterfall drops through three natural stone bridges into a deep sinkhole, best seen in spring when the snow melts.
Laqlouq has a small ski area that is quieter than the resorts closer to Beirut, and in summer the same slopes are used for hiking and picnics.
A chalet here suits families and groups who want snow in winter, cool air in summer and a calm base for walks. Best time to go: all year, with skiing from December to March.
