Jezzine

A mountain town with a tall waterfall, the Bkassine pine forest and a long tradition of handmade cutlery.

Jezzine is a mountain town in South Lebanon, about 75 km from Beirut, or around an hour and a half by car through the Chouf.

The town is known for its waterfall, which drops from the cliff beside the town centre, and for its craftsmen, who have made knives and cutlery with colourful bird-shaped handles for generations.

Just outside the town, the Bkassine pine forest is one of the largest pine forests in the region, with shaded paths for walking and picnics.

A guesthouse or villa in Jezzine suits couples and families who want nature, cool air and a slower pace. Best time to go: April to November.
