Keserwan-Jbeil · About 45 km from Beirut

Faraya & Mzaar

Lebanon's ski capital: chalets near the slopes of Mzaar Kfardebian in winter, cool mountain air and hiking in summer.

Faraya & Mzaar

Faraya is a mountain village in Keserwan, about 45 km from Beirut, usually around an hour and a quarter by car. Just above it is Mzaar Kfardebian, the largest ski resort in Lebanon, with slopes for beginners and experienced skiers alike.

In winter the ski season usually runs from December to April, depending on the snow. Chalets close to the slopes are the most sought after, especially on weekends and during the holidays, so book early. Check whether the road to your chalet needs snow chains and whether the chalet has good heating and a fireplace.

In summer Faraya becomes a cool escape from the heat of the coast. Nearby you can visit the natural stone bridge of Faqra, walk the mountain trails and eat at the restaurants along the main road.

Best time to go: December to April for skiing, June to September for mountain air and hiking.
