Faqra & Kfardebian

Stone villas and chalets high in the Keserwan mountains, next to Roman ruins, a natural rock bridge and the ski slopes.

Faqra and Kfardebian sit high in the Keserwan mountains, about 50 km from Beirut. The area is known for its stone villas and chalets, many of them in private resorts with pools for the summer and easy access to the ski slopes in winter.

Faqra has two sights worth the short walk: the ruins of a Roman temple complex, and Jisr al-Hajar, a natural limestone bridge over a mountain stream. In winter the slopes of Mzaar Kfardebian are a few minutes away by car.

A villa in Faqra suits large families and groups of friends who want space, a fireplace and a long lunch on the terrace. In summer the nights are cool, so you can sleep without air conditioning, and pool villas are popular for day-use gatherings.

Best time to go: all year round. Winter for snow and skiing, summer for pool villas and cool nights.
