Douma & the Batroun hills
Old stone villages with red-tiled roofs, ancient olive groves and quiet guesthouses in the hills above Batroun.

Douma and the villages around it sit in the hills between the Batroun coast and the high mountains, about 70 km from Beirut, or an hour and a half by car.
Douma is known for its stone houses with red-tiled roofs and its restored old souk. Nearby, the village of Bchaaleh has olive trees that are among the oldest in the world, still standing in the village groves.
The Batroun beaches are about half an hour down the road, so a stay here can mix quiet mountain days with an evening by the sea.
A guesthouse in Douma or the Batroun hills suits couples and small families looking for calm, history and good walks. Best time to go: April to November.
